I guess I have been Cooched enough. Here is my story you can add to the page.
Phil and I had hooked up on the phone to discuss which boat we were going to take. I have an 18' Ranger and he has a 20' Ranger. So the manufacturer was not a problem. We decided on his boat. Figured I would not get as beat up if it was rough as we did two weeks prior.......yeah right!!!!!!! It was like ridding a bigger bull. It was all I can do to protect my chingadarro's.
Well, we rolled up to the first spot and preceded to put three in the boat right away. We probably should of limited there. We missed another three or four fish. On to spot # 2. Nothing at this spot. It looked so conducive. On to spot # 3, we finished our limit on flukes. After tagging the fish using the Cull Em Rite, I began to hear strange noises coming from Phil's direction. I think he was trying to sing. Obviously he spent the money for singing lessons on fishing lessons. This guy is a good "stick".
Enough of spot #3, on to the next spot. As we came on Mildred Is. We heard some strange knocking noises coming from the engine. Phil shut it down. Unfortunately, we never made spot #4. After some technical evaluation from Micster and Steve and a brief tow, we assumed all hope was lost for us to get back in time. I even called a buddy as a possibility of getting my boat out there, we were headed to Tiki. As we arrived to Tiki, we were ready to meet up with Phils neighbor to give him a ride back and released the fish, a boat came by we flagged down.
We asked them how they were doing. They said nothing. Just a lot of stories of the one that got away. We explained our situation and they agreed to take me in. See ya Phil and off we go. These two guys show true bass fishing professionalism by doing this. The boat owner was Dave Brennen, owner and creator of All Star spinnerbaits, and his partner Paul. Did not catch his last name.
I was the first one to weigh in. The weigh-in crew had to scramble to weigh me in. They were not ready. But when they got ready, Phil and I ended up with a little over nine pounds. Because of the generosity of Dave and Paul, this was the difference between winning and getting zip.
Thanks guys.
